I was just having a thought about the sentence...

'is ready for term 09/10'.

For just a short 5 minutes or so, it got me thinking there that whether or not I've done enough on my part to contribute to the growth of our LC for the first half of the year.

It's true we've implemented some new things. We've probably standardised quite some stuffs too. Managed to make a few changes. But then again, is it enough?

And then again, what's our remaining term 09/10 would be like? -- I really wonder.

Back to studies! I am seriously having the toughest time ever.

we were in the library working on our assignment when one of us mentioned about this girl who passed by the discussion room we were in. to me, the stories that were told about her were very new. to some of the rest, the presence of this girl is newer.

pondering upon my thoughts as i so often do, she crossed my mind. she, who is a total stranger to me. after more than a month being in the same subject, i have only started to notice her presence since the assignment workshop we attended. come to think about it, i have always seen her alone. never have i seen her with a friend, smiling.

i can't imagine a day in my life where i had to do everything alone, where i have noone to speak or rant to. i wonder what's life for her. we all have a story to tell. i wonder what's hers?

anyway, enough with the randomness.
now, for something a little more relevant to what's revolving around me.

i am glad to say that our iSHINEE Limited Financial Report is very near to completion! all thanks to the directors of the company: Ju, Kim and Mich! special thanks to friends who helped out with discussions and seniors who shared with us their assignment. :)

we went for syndy's birthday dinner at yuen's steamboat yesterday night with a whole lot of AIESECers. i'm too darn tired to blog about that. might update if i find the time to.

after the dinner, we went for a movie in pyramid. it was a choice between horror or thriller. we chose horror: uninvited. sigh. never sit beside mann dee if you were to watch a horror movie. it just makes the whole situation a lot more scarier.

after movie, we went over to jin's place to sleep over. i must say this is the most productive sleep over i have ever had in my whole entire life as a student. we actually sat in front of the laptop working on the darn financial report assignment that we will have to submit next week.

it's now 6.30 in the morning, usually the time when i am getting ready to go to college. we're now awake still in jin's living room working on the darn assignment. yes, we have not slept since we came back from the movies. at least me and jin have not. the rest are some where in slumber land already.

Team '09

To take a moment to sit and reflect upon my past few months, I’ve been doing this quite frequently again. For a change, I’m not going to rant about my usual day-to-day life like how I always do. But I’m going to talk about a team; a team of 13 very different people to be exact.

It all started with 10 individuals (inclusive of me), then came along another 3. Together, we formed a team. Not exactly the people I would like to work with honestly. I was content to a certain extent that I got through but then again, a part of me felt empty. You know when you form a new team with some strangers and you’d ask yourself ‘How the heck am I ever going to work with this bunch of people’ type of feeling. Yeah, that’s how I felt back then. It was always about work, work and work. How often did we actually take the time to get to know each other? Not much really. Those were the days… when most of us were still strangers to each other.

It wasn’t easy to be in this team. To one extent, I ponder upon my own thoughts, ‘Should I quit?’ It was a very tough decision to make. Some (not all) people see us being at a glamorous position but truth is, it’s not always glamorous you know; especially through the hard times. There were times of arguments and moments of cold replies; minutes of silence and sweats of frustration. Let’s face it; we all knew the road wasn’t going to be smooth sailing.

I guess it was only until LCPM that we finally started to get to know each other. It was probably then that I started to change my perception on the certain people that I thought I could never work with. Browsing through the pictures and videos we took back then, brings back lots of memories. Weeks and months passed since then, I am happy that I made the decision to be in the team. I am glad to be working with the other 12 individuals and there is no better candidate that can replace any one of them. These lovely people are no other than my teammates in Team ’09.

To imagine how Team '09 would be incomplete without any one of the them. Every time we meet, the lame jokes, teases and crap that we laugh about always makes my day. Spending time with them, can only bring us to 2 situations: tensed and stressed out over our LC matters or bursts of laughter over some lame jokes or craps. Although we have little arguments every now and then, and at times would have to put up with each other's shit, at the end of the day, everything would still be cool.

At times I wonder, if back then I knew that being in Team '09 would keep me so busy and at times, stressed... Would I still choose this path? My answer: Yes, I would. My decision to run for elections, to work in a team with a group of crazy people, to stay in this team is one that I have no regrets on.

Glad to be in Team '09.

so out of the blue when i was driving home from college yesterday night, i got this text from siew lai. "Tonite wan go out yum cha?" it's been quite a while, hasn't it? i guess the last time i actually saw the bunch was on siew lai's birthday. 6 weeks ago? -yeah, around that.

they came pick me at 9pm and we were in the car deciding where the heck to go. finally decided to go to naili's place all the way in sentul. the place ain't bad. great environment, with great friends. just perfect.

btw, you guys should have seen how cheng reacted when a cat came sit below our table. other guests were looking at us, as usual. :P

David Archuleta Live in Malaysia

when i heard david archuleta will be performing live in malaysia, i was all hyped up. -until i realised that the tickets are given out free from radio stations and digi (something like that). oh well, i'm a fan but not to the extent where i'd go all out to get the tickets. not until 3 days before the performance, i was reading through my inbox and came across this email thread wherecatherine mentioned she had an extra ticket. muahaha! my free entrance to go for david archuleta's performance without even sweating to get the tickets. thanks lots cat! love love. :)

so the saturday started off with me still being sick, waking up at 7 in the morning to make it for a meet up with Team '09 at our ss14 interns' house. went to pick up the boxes of donated books for our TOMORROW project from vincent's place, picked up wing onn from ktm and off we made our way to ss14. by the time i reached the house, i see almost all of my lovely teammates waiting outside the house. to cut the details -- we hadmcd's for breakfast (thanks to shua, ni and hong for ta pao-ing for us) and commenced our meet up. the focus of the meet up was our MBTI results by the way. and we discussed about the many ways to deal with each other's working style.

time flew really fast -- 12pm. yi hong dropped cat, ju and i at the elephant's walk (or whatever you call it) at sunway. 12pm, like 3 hours before the concert and darn the amount of people lining up to get in. we lined up and waited for our turn. after 40 minutes, we finally got in. found ourselves seats and then waited for 3 hours (aprrox. 3.50pm) until we saw performance by hao ren (astro star quest), alif (one in a million) and daniel lee. they each sung 2 songs but let's face it. the crowd was there to watch david archuleta. ;)

4.30pm finally came and david archuleta walked on the very stage that was before us. usual thing, everyone screamed their lungs out. he is so cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cuteeeeee! he sang 6 songs. and he only appeared for like half an hour. yeah. after waiting for HOURS, we only get to see him on stage for half an hour. :( but it's all good and worth it. wheeee! i like! he started off his showcase with A Little Too Not Over You and ended it with Angels (on keyboard).

Yup, earth hour. I'm sure all of you know about it. The publicity for the event has been so huge to a controversial extent. Companies support earth hour only to gain publicity. Earth hour is out to "save the world" but explain the number of posters printed to promote the event. If switching off all lights for 1 hour can save the world, the world would have been saved damn long ago. Statements like those are unavoidable. But me myself, I feel it's pretty much a good initiative. Just like any other other 'creating awareness' campaigns, there ought to be a certain level of controversy at the beginning stages. It's just like AIESEC's Standard Chartered Bank HIV/AIDS workshop; if having HIV/AIDS workshop can save people from HIV/AIDS, then the world would HIV/AIDS-free already. Still, we're doing it for to create the awareness. And I guess that's what matters.

By the way, I've been saying how I support earth hour campaign and all but I'm blogging during the 1 hour earth hour duration. Yes, my computer is switched on! Meaning to say I'm not acting what I support? Hm, not really... In fact, the campaign have been promoting "switch off your lights" which is exactly what I did. My whole house is dark. I'm typing this post in the dark. The only electrical appliance which is turned on in my house as of now; my Computer (because I'm having an online meeting with Vincent and Joshua now) and the TV in my living room (Daddy's not a supporter. The only way Mommy can support the campaign is by leaving the TV on so that Daddy wouldn't bother if we switched off the lights).

Alright, time to pay attention in the meeting. :)

A "Feeling" Person

to see them walk through one test after another. finally just to be seen standing in front sharing to the crowd their thoughts and feelings. to pledge to contribute and to change. i never thought one could tear that easily. but then again, it seemed impossible not to tear; being the one who saw each of them pass through each hurdle reaching this point of time. when it was our turn to share, words couldn't be said. it's so frustrating in a way; feeling so much yet tears stood in the way. damn! now thinking back, reading the sugar cubes; the past 4 months of hard work, stress and midnight oil burnt was worth it. no one felt as much as i did probably. but the journey this far, i can never say how very touched i am. this, it's only the beginning. as time passes, things wouldn't be so perfect any more. things may fall apart. bumpy road awaits. i know. but to see the people who said the things yesterday, for that... it's all worth it. i would have given up otherwise. it does not always have to be the leader who inspires. after all, i'm a feeling type of person. :)

I heard WA LAU WEH!!! and TRANSFORM inspired many and was successful. I was in Hong Kong and missed the chance to be emcee and faci for the two events. After all the hard work, when Team '09 called me after TRANSFORM to tell me that the event was a disaster, I was pretty much speechless and hung up. The venue black out lah, chairs burnt lah... Hahaha. Darn them. Darn me, to actually believe them. It almost ruined my Hong Kong trip. Lol. But the hard work paid off. Delegates were inspired. 3 days of dry run and preparations of both OC and facis, ahhh... darn satisfying. (:

Come to think about it. It has already been one and a half month since Team '09 have officially gained our position. Another 10 and a half months to go. I wonder how many members can we inspire and impact by the end our term. The thought of developing the new batch of members feels really good. Hehehe...

Anyway, Vincent gave the whole team 2 days break off from AIESEC. Strictly no AIESEC work. Can stay at home and moderate the interview results - who's in and who's out. Hehehe.

Can't believe that semester 3 commencing in two weeks time. :(

Local Committee Planning Meet Jan '09

4th to 6th January

On 4^th of January, Team ’09 together with 4 invited members went down to Port Dickson, Sunshine Bay Resort to held AIESEC TUC Local Committee Planning Meet (LCPM) 2009. We left Taylor’s at 12pm with full of energy and enthusiastic. It took more or less 1 hour to reach our destination.

LCPM kicks off when Mr. President announced it is officially started. First, we had team building conducted by Michelle Lee. Each group was supposed to draw a face on the mahjong paper and come out with 5 characteristic for the person. Then, create a story how these characteristics can contribute in a team. Funny stories were being made up from being too deep to HAMSAP (horny).

After team building, every department presented the past achievements, past non-achievements and strategies for the next 6 months. Presentations were stretched till 8pm.

After a long day of presentations, we had barbeque for our dinner at the beach. Thanks to Whit Ni’s delicious marinated mutton and chicken wing. Everyone was satisfied with the food although we need to wait quite a while to fill our stomach.

At night, planning continues while some participated in creating Team ’09 square dance and roll call.

For the last day, informative classes were conducted by departments. Exchange departments shared some matching skills, talent management department educated everyone on GCM competency and recruitment skills, selling department shared the importance of branding, Mr. President educated on AIESEC brand and logo while Finance and Administration department went through Internal Finance Policy together.

Then, Vincent conducted a personality test on everyone and finally launched a few launches. Launches such as Supporter of the month, X-Heroes Match!, 2009 Sapu Awards and TOSS (Team ’09 Success Story). All these launches had an aim in bringing the whole local committee together as a whole and achieving the goals that were being set.

All in all, LCPM was a blast. Everyone enjoyed it. From the food, planning and photo taking session. It has been observed that the relationship among delegates is stronger by the end of this LCPM and everyone showed a sense of belonging to the team and to the LC. Everyone is very motivated to perform their best to achieve the vision they have built together for the LC.

let's just say the journey have not been all that smooth and at times, rather rough. i'm not going to deny that at many times, it's really darn tiring and stressful. never putting aside the fun times that you have to forgo. it comes to that extent where i get all grumpy and cranky that can be pretty much darn annoying. countless times i sit back and rest, having thoughts wonder, telling myself can i have a break? just to see myself getting back to work after 10 minutes. when my mum asked you married to AIESEC already ah? i know i've been out and busy much too often. having been on semester break for more than a month now and never have been able to spend one day just lazing around at home and not touch my computer, that's amazing for me. i've left my gmail account untouched for years only to see me logging in to check my mails at least 10 times a day now. bugging others to transfer me movies and tv series just to leave them untouched in my external hard disk. i'd be really honest, this is not the ideal 3 months semester break that i have pictured all these while. many times, friends tease me for being too caught up. many times, i personally think that time is a constraint. many times that i wake up having my ideas all piling up and many times i go to bed trying to complete the puzzles. sacrifices have been made. not only by me but for everyone who is walking the same path. it's not easy, it never is. and it's not going to be either. so why are we all walking this path? is it really worth the whole lot of changes?

my answer remains the same and i hope it'll never change -- it's worth it.

after all, this is just the beginning of our book. the left is still unwritten.

I just love the view from my bedroom. While I read my emails, the loud burst of fireworks can be heard. The time was clear as the fireworks signals the end of year 2008 and a fresh start to year 2009. Outside the glass, fireworks from a few directions can be seen. All so loud and beautiful.

2007 saw me step out of high school to advance to the all new college atmosphere. So new and fresh to the outside world, it took me one year to settle down and by the end of foundation, came year 2008 which brought me to a whole new level in life. It was not easy to bid goodbye to high school. Neither was it easy to bid goodbye to our foundation year, being very well-known back then for being the noisiest class of our batch.

In year 2008, stepping into the lecture hall for the very first time as a degree-level student, the excitement, I honestly do not remember how it felt. Haha, but it must have felt great I reckon. First semester just zoomed by with our ups and downs in life. With all our last minute SilkyGirl marketing presentation which turned out really good that earned us praises. The arguments and disappointments were kind of worth it. Hehe. And I remember worrying that I'd fail my Accounting paper for screwing up my budgeted financial statement and all. But we all sailed through our very first semester smoothly.

And I remember having the most happening semester break I ever had with back-to-back trips to Redang Island and Genting with my mates. It sure cost me a fortune but I really had damn lots of fun back then. It was the ultimate getaway from a very torturous first semester. After all the fun trips, I came back and got myself into being an active AIESECer, taking up Induction Conference as my very first project. God, was that one heck of an experience.

Semester 2 came by very soon and it started off rather rough. Juggling my time within AIESEC and studies. Mood swings very often. Assignments gave me a very tough time but of course, I managed to pull it through with the many help of some really great friends (the 38 gang) who have always had my back. People say that "students in degree level are very selfish and will not help you out when you have trouble in your studies". That's one thing that I'm really grateful of, to have friends that are willing to share. The best thing that ever happened to me within this two years in TBS is to have this group of really great friends, sincerely. The results of semester 2 didn't come by well for all of us though, which is rather saddening at this point.

Moving on, I took a step forward in AIESEC and have successfully gotten myself into Team 2009. Honestly, that's the most significant change that happened to me in 2008. Attending MyLDS 2008 was an eye opener to me. And throughout the past 3 weeks working and planning for AIESEC TUC 2009, I have certainly learnt a lot. Back in April 24th, when I just joined AIESEC, I never would have saw myself coming this far in AIESEC. Let's just say... I see this as one of my bigger achievements this year.

Although being so involved with college, there's still this group of friends that have walked many years with me. Who else but the bunch of SSM friends that I spent so many years growing up with? 2 years back I wondered how many months would it take before we all walk our separate ways and lose contact. Two years after, and we still spend the happiest moments together. Thinking that I still have the group of people who buried the frog and mouse in school together 3 years ago with me really warms my heart! There is no way I can ever forget the bunch of you.

Updates.

24th December
Spent Christmas eve with a bunch of really good friends who crashed by house until 4 in the morning.

25th December
Went to church with my relatives. No, I'm not Christian. They invited, that's all to it. Had lunch with them. At night, went over to Aunt CP's place for Christmas dinner.

26th December
Back to AIESEC. Met up with my TM teamies and Vincent at ECA centre and called up over 200 members. Started at 11.30am and ended at 5pm. After that, Vincent and I met up with Cecilia. Went to Carrefour to check out the price of BBQ food for our upcoming LCPM.

27th December
Cousins outing. Two of my cousins were involved in a singing competition organized by their church. StarGen was the name of the competition. So we tagged along to cheer for them. After that, I spent the night at Mann Dee's place for Pillow & Plan Outing - AIESEC work again.

28th December
Time to spend some time with my own family. Family and I went shopping at Sg. Wang. Teehee. All of us bought something we wanted. :)

29th December
Cousins outing at The Curve. I thought it was just a regular outing with the bunch. We went for lunch at Tony Romas, bowling, watched "Bed Time Story", dinner at Italiannies. Only then did I realize that the whole outing was planned to throw me an early birthday surprise. It was really weird in a way. The waitress in Italiannies came with a marble cheese cake lit up with candles heading towards our table. Everyone started singing "Happy Birthday". I thought it was one of the cousins birthday and I sang along happily. Only until the waitress stood beside me that I realize the birthday song was for me. Really never saw it coming okay. Thanks to the whole bunch. I really super duper appreciate all the effort and for each and everyone of you to be there.

30th December
Went to college for AIESEC. Interviewed a few members. Our interview was a little crappy. But it was still okay, considering it our first TM interview.

31st December
Which is today. I've been going out everyday for the past one week. Lucky me, no members to interview today. And I just felt like staying home. Despite the New Year's eve plans some friends have, I just chose to stay home and laze around. It's been a very long time since I woke up at 12 in the afternoon. It's been a very long time since I sat at the sofa in my living room to watch TV and snooze off. It's been a very long time since I lied on the bed and listen to my iPod. It's been a very long time since I skimmed through the newspaper. I just wanted to be home. I just wanted to spend this New Year's eve alone.

Looking at the pile of AIESEC work I have on my list kinda scares me. It's really cool in a way being in this position that there's just so much to learn. Been exactly 3 weeks since MyLDS ended. And within these 3 weeks, quite a number of things have been said and done. The most significant ones were the mistakes that I will have to learn from. It's all still new and quite amuzing to me at this point.

Alright, breaks over. Back to work. Will update again in half an hour time.

at times it just feels so darn frustrating staying up all night, trying to come up with an ultimate plan yet going to sleep without a concrete framework in mind. ideas are everywhere. i guess it's about fitting the right ones into one picture. there is so much to be done yet nothing is finalized. the pace of which i am working now is not enough. i need to try harder.

on a very random note, there are some conversations in life that you'd wished you never had to listen to. that was one of it. it broke my heart. it felt so tensed. as much as i wanted to know more, i just wished it stopped. it's like watching a scene from a tv series. i felt so sorry for what happened. at the same time, i felt so helpless. thinking about it fills my eyes with tears. i wish i was stronger. i wish i didn't have to be the one who heard it. i wish there is someone to share this burden with. i wish things would be different. i wish it weren't true.

but hey, reality check-up: life is such.

Spent Thursday night with the SSM gang. Has been a very long time; more than a month. It felt great to be able to spend time with all of you again. Sorry if I spent a lot of my time on my handphone... I still love you guys lots! :P

I visited MC office for my very first time yesterday. To add on to that, I drove to KL Sentral for the first time yesterday. I also witnessed how a car gets clamped for the first time. I also had my first reception. My first time at Mahsa College. Yesterday came with a lot of my first time. It was one heck of an experience.

Anyhow, Yee Jin and I had our first reception with Victor, HIV/AIDS intern from Hong Kong. He was a really nice guy to hang out with; friendly, 38, syok sendiri. And I must say that I had fun and learnt a lot, considering it my first reception. We took photos, of course, with Victor's camera.

Damn gao lat! We had our first TM team '09 meeting today from 12-6pm! Really used our brains to the very maximum. Just our first of many to come. (:

After meeting, Joshua and I accompanied Vincent to his favourite restaurant for dinner and chat until 7pm. After that, we made our way to Lynn's cafe to have Cecilia's birthday dinner. Will upload photos later. Would like to elaborate more but am damn tired now. Need to take a very short nap before I start working again. :)

Went to Cyberjaya and Putrajaya today to gao tim PVP for 3 of our interns. Met up with Clarence, Wing Onn and Issac at TBS this morning. William dropped by too. We left TBS at around... 10.10 in the morning. Drive-thru McD's for breakfast and made our way to Limkokwing. Got the passports from 2 of the interns there and made our way to the immigration at Putrajaya.

We spent a few hours in the immigration. Wing Onn damn gan jeong since it's his first time going through this process. It's my first time too lah but I'm just the keh leh feh. After gao tim everything, we went back to Limkokwing to pass the passports back to the interns and made our way back to Subang. Had our lunch at Subang around 3.30pm. Balik rumah after lunch. (:

How could I ever reject the offer? :P But I was seriously dying to go hang out with the bunch of friends. When Cheng called me in the afternoon to ask for yum cha session, I was seriously damn delighted! Went yum cha with the Aussie boys. Just came back from yum cha session with them.

Finally, semester 2 final results are out! The print screen below shows my semester 1 and 2 results. I'm bloody proud of myself!!! See...

Yes, all censored because the results are so fugly that it has the ability to blind you! Anyway, only QM results are out. Still waiting for BIS, FA1 and ME results. FA1 results, I really can't wait. I'm not sure if I'll even get through but please god, please!!! Help me get through this semester!!! Or my parents would probably kill me and restrict me from being too active in other areas other than studies.

I've been refreshing that bloody web page for like only god know how many times. Really torturing! I wonder if all our results will be released by today. Ahhhhh!

Transition

Late updates: Transition - 12th December.

Joshua and I had our transition with our two bosses today. 9am - around 4pm. And almost everything is covered this time around. It's really nice to see how our predecessors put so much effort in transiting everything that they've done for the whole one year to us. (: Jin asked me after transition today, "are you ready?" I'd honestly say I still lack the confidence but I am ready! Anyway, a few photos of our transition:

Fuh, I'm talking as if my term ended already when my term is just about to start. :)

Tomorrow will be MT 09's official day. Thinking back, the road that I have walked with AIESEC. Thinking ahead, I wonder what will be the legacy we'll leave behind one year to come. It's gonna be one heck of a journey and I am looking forward to that. :)

YouthShakers 2008

YouthShakers 2008 updates: December 5th-10th 2008, UPM.

The whole process of MyLDS/MNC was one that's really new to me. My first AIESEC conference and I have to say that it was one heck of an experience.

Day 1

We gathered at TBS at 7 in the morning and waited for Princess Ka Wei to arrive. Our 2 buses left for UPM at around 7.45 am. In the bus I was in, we started warm up session by doing some roll calls shared by our Netherlands and Australia interns and some of our own TUC roll calls. Reached UPM and checked into our hostel, by the time we settled down, we were rushing our way to the plenary hall. We entered the plenary hall late. What followed was PwC's session and lunch. After lunch, I went for MNC with the rest of EB'08 and MTe'09 and started off with functional areas reviews. Then, dinner. After dinner, we had Dane-Off where each LC showed their square dances. And there we were stood out on the stage in front of the crowd doing our MAMMA MIA square dance. :) Then we spent the rest of our night doing planning for 2009 up until 5 in the morning.

Day 2

Slept for less than 2 hours and had to wake up for our second day. After breakfast, we had photo session. Followed by Alumni Day and at night, RACE 2008. RACE was one very emotional event. Tears were shed for joy and disappointment. But it was during RACE that started bring @ TUC together. :)

Day 3

Was when my sorethroat started kicking in. After breakfast and morning plenary, we were off to our MNC track while MyLDS delegates had their fun. Went for TM class and got to know other VPTMs and Executives. After dinner, had MyAIESEC.net simulation.

Day 4

I officially K.O.-ed on Day 4. Lost my voice. Didn't feel good. But went for planning and legislation (that bore me to sleep). Nevertheless, a great experience.

Day 5

K.O.-ed again. I went back to hostel to get some rest during LN and L'Oreal sessions. After resting, around evening plenery, I felt so much better, my voice came back and had a blast during evening plenery and GV. After GV, it was damn "gao" emo session for all of us. We had our most emo sharing session of all the 5 days. Every @ TUC delegate stood out and shared their experience throughout the past 5 days. Most of us cried. Shared and cried. Then, we had "circle whispers" or whatever you call them. Here, we shared and cried "gao gao".

Day 6
Another emo day. After launches and MCP mock election, we had MNC wrap up where we cried more. Lastly, closing ceremony... where we cried EVEN more. Especially when @ TUC bagged 3 our of 6 recognitions from MyLDS/MNC. Damn proud!

So the above is a very brief summary of how I spent my 6 days in UPM for YouthShakers 2008. There's just so many photos taken in so many cameras that it seems almost impossible to compile all of them. So to wrap this post up, I'm going to just share the group pictures we took. (:

December 5th was mommy's birthday. But cause I had to leave for MyLDS on the 5th, we celebrated her birthday the day before. Went out shopping with her all day long and ate dinner plus the traditional birthday cake + song.

Ipoh-Cameron trip

Late updates: Ipoh-Cameron trip - Dec 1st to 3rd.

Schedule was damn packed and the only time we managed to squeeze in a 3 days 2 nights trip before Madeline returns to Sabah was December 1st to 3rd. This time, trip was to Ipoh and Cameron Highlands.

Dec 1st, sat public bus to Ipoh where Jin's parents picked us up from the bus station. We went on a one day tour in Ipoh. Ate good food and took nice photos. Never forgetting, karaoke session where Ju and I did a duet that got us 99 points out of 100. (: Wahaha! Jin's family hosted us for that night, thank you so much!

Dec 2nd, we went up to Cameron Highlands. Took nice photos and spent a quiet, peaceful time up there. Cheng was sick though. She made full use of her accommodation fee and slept in the apartment the whole freaking day.

Dec 3rd, went to the market, strawberry farm, smoke house then headed back home.

Met up with the team at McD's for breakfast before proceeding to the venue to prepare for our sessions. Pre-MyLDS was the first MTe09 acted as facilitators. Everything went on smoothly but much of room for improvement. :)

Back from MyLDS/MNC

Hey people. I know I have not been putting any effort updating you people about my life since finals up until now. Recent posts were all random thoughts or little updates. There's just sooo much to update that thinking about the things that I've been through throughout the past few weeks mentally makes me lazy to even type about them. Anyway, I'm making an effort here. (:

I just got back from MyLDS/MNC held at UPM yesterday. The past 6 days were really crazy (in a good way) and I'm so going to miss them. It's really very touching to see @ TUC go for the conference with about 40 delegates who acted individually but leaving the conference as a whole. Never forgetting the nights when we stayed up late until 5 in the morning planning for our term and talking. The days when we shout our lungs out in the plenary hall. The sharing session (especially on our last night) when our tear glands burst! The joy and the tears. The laughter and the disagreements. All that in my very first @ conference.

At this point of time, there's only one thing I can say... I'm proud to be an @er in @ TUC. (:

On a very random note, I changed my blog template. Finally! I just got super darn bored with the black template and wanted a change. It's a little weird but this template is best viewed by Internet Explorer. Alignments a little cacat if viewed through Mozilla Firefox or other web browsers. Will update more tomorrow or so. (:

When I thought that FINALS is finally over, and that means I could FINALLY get all the sleep I wanted... I was so wrong. :( I have yet to have sufficient sleep every since Finals ended. It's even worse than Finals. Only difference is I'm enjoying what I'm doing now and I definitely did not enjoy studying. :P

Pre-MNC was today. After Pre-MNC, went to Subang Parade to grab some stuffs and met up for lunch with one of the interns, Angela (from Australia) who just arrived today.

I have been really slacking on my blog posts which is sooooo unlike me. Even YEE JIN's blog is more updated than mine already. :( Ish.

Tomorrow, we'll be touring Ipoh under the guidance of Miss Tour Guide - Chin Yee Jin. Eh, not tomorrow... few hours later. Damn, have to wake up early and go to Pudu to catch the 10.30am bus to Ipoh. Tired lah. Hehehe... But will be fun! (:

Spring Onions

I used to follow my mom to the market and see her buy vegetables, fruits and meat from the market people. It seemed really easy though I never took the effort to learn what vegetables are they and whether or not they are fresh or rotten. :P I was always the "kuli" who just followed her everywhere holding the plastic bags or pushing the trolly.

My parents should really travel more often. It helps make me a more independent and responsible person. It also helps my friends me a little more independent. My home ran dry on vegetables and my brother was too busy to go get them. So it was pretty much my responsibility to go grab some vegetables to last a few more days. I admit, I was never the goodie girl who knew the names of vegetables or what is fresh and rotten. But I just had to buy some vegetables.

On the way back from college today, Ju and I did some marketing. Bought some carrots and it took us a very long time and walked around in circles like many times to finally figure what was spring onions. It was quite a great achievement to walk in the supermarket not knowing what spring onion was but leaving it with a bag of carrots, spring onions, beans sprout and 'kangkung'. You'd know how it feels if you were in my position.

Anyway, a little update about life after our semester 2 finals. Right after finals, we went to catch a movie. We deserve it alright, after spending a month burying ourselves under text boooks and notes. We watched Madagascar 2 which was really god darn funny. (: We have the laugh we needed to kick-start our 3 months long semester break. That night itself, I had dinner with Cheng and Ivy.

The very next day, I went to college to deal with some @ work while the rest went to KL to shop! Wanted to meet up with them after the meeting but was just to tired that I went home for a nap. Got up from nap and started to work my ass off for Joshua's and my Pre-MyLDS IBXP session. The rest finally came back to Cheras at 8.30pm when I was done with my slides and just about to starve to death. The plan was to head to pasar malam and grab our dinner there but the rain continued for another few more hours. We then decided to have our dinner at a restaurant. After dinner, we headed back for them wash up and all. De, Yin Fei, Ivy went back to Cheng's place while Ju and Kim came over to mine. 11.40pm, they came over to my place and we started watching the ghost movie of our choice, The HOUSE! (some thai ghost movie which didn't turn out that scary after all). Done with the movie and off to bed. (:

That's pretty much it. Tomorrow is ATAN. Finally. ATAN's OC must be freaking excited and scared by now. And I still got lots of work to do. The next few days will be all about AIESEC. (:

it used to be all about passion. and it still is. it has always been about passion. but recently, just feels like its too much for me to handle. it's like wanting to do something but at the same time feel like giving up. giving up will bring me regrets, i'm sure. that's why i'm still hanging on. but this is only the beginning... can i really last that long? i hope tomorrow will change my perspective. i need to see something new for a change. maybe something that can keep my hopes alive. i need it and i need it badly.

Sem 2 Finals

Semester 2 finals, less than 48 hours to come. Compared to the past few days, I'm a lot relaxed now. Is that a good sign? I'm not too sure. Maybe it's a sign telling me that I'm ready. But then again, it could also be a sign showing that I give up.

Looking at the timetable, eyeing on the 25th. I should be thankful. Although we have back-to-back Microeconomics and Financial Accounting 1 (probably arranged to kill us mentally), our last subject ends as early as the 25th. How fortunate is that? Compared to the friends who will be sitting for their Financial Management paper on the 28th, I find myself in a very fortunate situation.

After finals, fun all the way. There's just so much to anticipate for after finals. Every good thing comes with a sacrifice. With the remaining hours, might as well get back to the books.

let's just face it. we all have our "just never good enough" times. and it's not like we don't know that we're doing a shitty job. we know it. haha. just that at times, we needed the assurance to boost our confidence and morale (despite knowing the truth). *winks*

then there are times when you've done a great job but just out of modesty or doubt you'd ask yourself, "was that good enough? it didn't feel good enough." and when you talk about with a friend, most of them (not all), out of comfort or maybe now, sincerity (mostly comfort) would just say, "what nonsense! it's more than good enough. you're great. you've done a great job." blah, blah, blah! so, just take the effing compliment. you've earned it. haha.

i'm writing this out of randomness.

it's just something that all of us have faced, is facing or would face in life. there are times when we really screwed up, did a shitty job but just because we needed the comfort and boost in confidence (which is lacking in ourselves), we expect to seek the assurance of others. likewise, times when we know we can do it, we did it and did it well but still doubt ourselves and because we need the assurance, we seek it from others.

Sem 2 Study Break!

Study break. Went to college today to study. Yeah la, yeah la, I know what you all thinking, "Those 38 poh go library talk lar, where will study one!" But we really did study, ok! :P Met up with Ju and Ja at mezzanine floor. As usual, the one who stays the closest came the latest and I'm not all surprised about it. Hehe.

First thing to do was to consult Ms Mala. So the outcome of the consultation wasn't the best one could expect but at least it made us realize that Microeconomics is not one subject we will want to ignore. ;) You can see Ja's really stressed out face after listening to all the ME terms bla, bla, bla.

After consultation, we went to the library and started our war preparations for ME. Although QM will be our first battle but we decided that we'd prepare for ME first. After what seemed like one and a half hours of revision, we took a break. Went to visit Mr Welman to get a copy of our very own QM trial paper and to know our assignment 2 marks. On our way up to 5th floor (in the lift), we bumped into Ms Alice (sounds familiar? Sem 1 marketing lecturer).

Alice: Where you all going now? You all are in Sem 2 UniSA now right?
Us: Yup.
Alice: I thought your sem break started. What are you doing here? Last minute consultation la?
Us: Nooo, we are hardworking students.
Alice: Ya. [sarcastically].
Us: Better late than never right?
Alice: Nah, you admitted by yourself ha!

Convo continued to our usual topic with her...

Alice: So, what course? Accounting & Marketing or Finance & Marketing? It's ALWAYS these two right?
Us: Errr... Actually, still Accounting & Finance.
Alice: Consider Marketing, ok?

After 2 semesters, she's still trying to persuade us into Marketing. Anyways, back to topic... After lunch, preparation for ME battle started again. By 4pm, we were all worn out, tired and half-dead.

Alright, I'm about to start my battle preparations for QM. (: One more week until finals. 2 more until freedom! ^^

Now, let me elaborate more about my day today! (: Today was a good day for me. One of my recent best. Nothing extraordinary happened. Just the few little things in life that makes me smile. ^^

I had sufficient sleep and woke up to one of my weirdest dreams ever. One where my entire family tree was in it, with the presence of our Microeconomics lecturer, really mean friends (Cheng to be specific :P) with a slight touch of HSM3. Okay. That's a lot considering it all to be in only one dream. But honestly, to dream about our ME lecturer... a bit too much right? Study too hard for ME test? - Don't think so. :P Hehe. She gave me a stack of ME sample questions and answers which were nicely inserted in an envelope in the dream wei! Should have opened the envelope and read the sample questions and answers. They could have been potential FINAL exam questions. HAHAHA!

Anyways, replaced our very last ME tutorial today. Attended our very last BIS lecture (and still failed to pay attention). Attended our 2nd ME lecture and found it amazing that I managed to pay full attention throughout the whole 2 hours! Maybe Lin Li's dream man delivered the lecture well. HAHA! Oh btw, he's one of the youngest lecturer UniSA sent us so far and definitely one of the most qualified ones. And Lin Li's all over him. LENG ZAI wor she said. Ok-ok only lar. She seriously darn shy in front of him. Shy to the extent where she don't even dare ask him questions regarding Microecons. She pledged that she would attend all his lectures. Lin Li you know! No kidding!

During ME lecture break, the gang wanted to sing Ms. Malar a birthday song. Yes, it's her birthday today. But everyone damn pai seh to start singing. Ju suggested to announce it on stage so that everyone could sing together. Everyone thought it was a good idea. So I went up on stage with approval from both Alec and Malar to make an announcement, and we managed to get everyone to sing the birthday song with us. Lucky people layan-ed me. Imagine if it turned out wrong and after counting to 3 (on stage, holding the mic) so that everyone could start singing the birthday song together but noone did... I would probably be the idiot standing in front of everyone, on top of the freaking stage, feeling darn embarrassed. Haha. But of course, it did not happen, lucky me.

After lecture, we had our ME test. Fuah... Okay, the 1 hour test wasn't as bad/ horrifying/ terrifying as I imagined it to be. I had time to look around, scratch my head, day dream a little, scribble on the paper, recheck my answers, bla bla bla. I have to say, the revision worked quite a bit lar... :) After test, had some chats with some friends then went for dinner with the gang.

Ok, end of story! Darn tired. Long day awaits me tomorrow. Hehe.

it just ticks me off to hear you say "there'll be no time for friends". yes, i do foresee the lack of time i will be able to spent with them. and i do realize that putting aside, studies and families, friends may no longer be my first priority. believe me when i say that friends were the only thing that kept me considering for weeks before i finally decided to walk one step further. in fact, it was a really difficult decision for me to make. i am ready to miss out on the fun and outings i may have to forgo in times to come and that is why i'm making my best effort now, while i am still able to, to recognize the people that matters to me. after all, it's these people who brought me to where i am standing today and they deserve so much more than what i can give. "no time for friends"? yeah, maybe for some people. but at this moment, not for me. just not yet.

I'll always remember that one sentence Mr. Pillay told me back when I was in Form 3 after that one incident...

"Don't always try to be the heroin because when you try to cover up for someone else in the real world, the one who suffer will be you!"

I didn't give that sentence much thought back then. It was just a little lecture or advice he gave me after trying to clear up a mess the team made. All I had in mind was, he believed that I wasn't the cause to the mess. He had faith in me.

After 4 years, that sentence appeared in my mind again and this time around, I saw some sense in that sentence. It got me wondering... Why cover up for someone else? -It was not because I think it made me feel kind or happy or proud or brave. It was not because I wanted to act generous. It was not because I wanted to show people how good a leader or a friend I am because I was not. I did it just because I felt it was the right thing to do. Foolish? -Maybe. I wonder if I'm given that situation again, what would I do? I wonder if I would try to be the heroin all over again. Wouldn't that be cool? Heh. (;

Last week, we gathered in Ja's place to play BILLIONAIRE!!! Me, Xinyi and Ja got our asses whipped by Shin-chan! As you can see from the picture below, Shin-chan owned that much of BILLIONAIRE property and that amount of BILLIONAIRE cash. The rest of us really got our asses whipped gao gao! SERIOUSLY! Had a chat with two close buddies today. It's just amazing how "grown up" we feel, comparing to the days we had two years back. Thinking about the many years ahead of us, a long journey awaits us. In the near future, we'd probably be looking back, feeling that we've grown even more than what we are today. Life's a journey--an unpredictable one.

Who ends up with who?

Who gets the better job?

Who earns the bigger bucks?

Who got the highest qualifications?

Who will be the first to migrate?

Who's second? Then, who's third?

Sad, but true--this is reality.

It's been only two years since we set out on our own journey. A journey that taught us what reality was all about. So much happened within these two years. We've all grown to realize how cruel yet beautiful life could be. Still spending time (although a lot lesser) with the same faces, just only with a more matured perspective in life. Within these two years, we've all written our own story, made our own footprints, wrote our own 'chapter' and in the many years to come, will finish our now, 'unwritten book'.

I've been thinking a lot about the future lately. It happens everytime a major change happens in any one of our lives. There's so much more to learn, so much more to explore, so much more to experience. I wonder if we'd still have the chance to sit and talk about our 'past' in the future. I wonder what awaits us.

Had time-out after assignment submission today and went to Pyramid for a movie. House Bunny! (: After the movie, we had our FA1 block lecture from 3-6pm, ended an hour earlier. Ate dinner together with Grace, Jin, De and Cheng at AC. That's all for today!

When people tell me that AG turned out great, I couldn't be any happier. But of course, I'm not going to take all the credit. I could not have done it without my two 38 buddies! (: Also, never forgetting the rest - Kim, Dede and Xinyi who contributed when we brainstormed our AG contents the day before AG.

So much more to improve. Nevertheless, it was a great experience!
